I kid you not: Adam is probably the best teacher I’ve had of anything – and I say that as a person who does a lot of teaching and even teaches teachers.

As a very embarrassed 38 year old beginner, Adam guided me through a ridiculously ambitious first drumming project, performing with and for my friends at my 40th birthday party! He is exceptionally enthusiastic about drumming, and brings with him a really broad knowledge that makes learning with him feel like solid music education rather than just learning some techniques and pieces.

Adam is very adaptable to what is happening in the lessons and in the life of the learner, and is sensitive to what is working and what might be uncomfortable. He is excellent at setting the stage for learning and makes the environment really comfortable and safe. I felt taken seriously as someone trying really hard, but we also laughed a lot too!

Adam has been an amazing teacher for our very quiet daughter. She doesn’t enjoy new people, but she and Adam were chatting like old friends from the first lesson. They have so much fun in the lessons, and his range of teaching techniques is superb. He brings so much colour to the lessons, from his massive catalogue of musical genres to his drawings in her book. He has given her the confidence in her drumming to the point where she is prepared to do an exam, which was unthinkable a year ago.

Starting a new instrument, especially as an adult, felt very daunting for me but Adam instantly put me at ease and continued to do so. Adam is an extremely kind, patient and encouraging teacher who has a clear passion for teaching and music. If you’re thinking about giving the drums a go, do it and definitely work with Adam!

Adam has been amazing at helping my teenage son, who has ADHD and ASD, play the drums for pleasure. He has a friendly and relaxed manner. He has never made him feel under pressure, while still encouraging him to push himself just that little bit further. I can really see it has helped my son’s confidence.

Adam is a friendly, attentive tutor who engages really well with his students. He has a great way of sparking students’ interest in the instrument and making them excited to learn. He also brings a wealth of skills and experience to his teaching. My son has had drum lessons with Adam for four years since he was nine years old and passed his first exam with Distinction, a testament to Adam’s dedication. His encouragement, patience, and passion for music made a lasting impact. Adam is truly special, an exceptional tutor and one of a kind.

Our daughter has been learning drums with Adam for a few years now and looks forward to his lessons every week. She is neurodiverse and it has always amazed me how Adam has always gone with her interests (even when I am sure they don’t involve his favourite genres!) and kept her totally hooked while developing her skills.

I’m so grateful to Adam for the impact he’s had on my son’s love of playing the drums! He made learning the drums fun and engaging from the start, helping him gain confidence and improve his skills so quickly. With Adam’s support, my son received a distinction in his Grade 3 exam and is excited to sit his Grade 5 exam in a few weeks, something we never thought possible so soon. A real testament to Adam’s excellent teaching and encouragement. Adam’s passion for music is contagious, and the range of genres covered in the lessons has greatly expanded my son’s musical understanding.
